Enderby Cricket Club Won
Match report
1st May 2010 @ Newtown Linford
With the forecast not good & Newtown forgetting to put the covers on Captain Couls had a tricky decision to make, but chose to bowl again 2 out of 2 tosses for Couls now good work.
Conway & Weaver starting the attack with the ball doing allsorts on a random damp wicket, with Chris Conway having top scorer Brewin dropped @ gully again while on 7. Weaves was finding some good areas bowling 5 over’s & Conway 7 last week’s pair Willett & Haden took over. Hard time over & under pitching from all bowlers. Willett & the Mark Johnstone bowling really well, Matt claiming 4 for 32 & Johno 4 for 23 bowled with great control turned the game for us, Shipo with 2 steeped catches & ice man behind the stumps with a impressive 4 with a cut lip off pace ace Haden, Newtown Linford ending on 167 for 9 Enderby just could not find that last week for a max 24 points, tea was enjoyed apart from lots & lots of swearing from Dave “gutter mouth” Haden
Ben & John opening up again same as last week, John hitting a textbook drive through the cover along the deck for 4 but falling just after to a good high catch @ point, even though the fielder saying he didn’t even see it. Ben on the other hand started very aggressive too hitting a 6 in the 2nd over 1 of a massive 8 sending a message out to the team & 6 hitting league within the club. With Matt Willett bowled trying to hit it to the moon for a well earned 29 brought Captain Couls to the wicket getting onto 4 till top edging right behind himself to the Newtown keeper. Steve Couglin out to the middle looking soild & also getting into the 6’s league with a huge one through mid wicket steve not out at the end for a never troubled 22.
Top Honours to Ben Turner though guiding us thorough to 167 with a unbeaten 107* Not Out WELL DOND BOB!!!!!, showers were enjoyed with some mischief from Mark “I want £8 worth” Johnstone, beer then back to the club to great news that the 2’s had also won well done Lurch & the boys.
Top of the league after 2 games staying there is the hard bit, so bring on 3rd place Hinckley on Saturday!
