2007 Tour

On Bank Holiday weekend Enderby CC embarked on there first tour for many years when they set off for the South West.
Setting off immeadiately after our Saturday league matches on our hired Minibus, our first port of call was an immeadiate return to our home ground after forgetting the directions.
Club stalwart Dave "Old Man" Mackey was to be our coach driver for the weekend. Off we plodded and got about 15 mins down the Motorway before a shout from behind was heard that somebody needed the bogs. On cue came our knight in shining armour, Browse who reliably informed us that he had bought a bucket. The piss was had and more beers were sunk. Around 10 mins after this a shout was heard that somebody has wet feet. Our knight in shining armour had let us down and bought us a bucket with a whole in. Naturally browse was not the most popular bloke and on stopping at a service station was promptly dumped into a big bush!
Our first stop was to be Bristol, where we had booked ourselves into a travelodge for the night. Despite our late set off time, most of the young one's decided to venture into Bristol where a cracking night was had with a lot of us finally getting in between 3-4am.
The next morning we had an early get up as we had to get to our first game against our regular tourists Westbury on Severn. On a baking hot day, the beer took its toll and we under-performed against a side we probably would have beaten on a normal day. Despite this a great time was had with our friends at Westbury.
On departing we set off for Weston-Super-Mare where we imeadiately took to the pier for the amusement arcades, food for Jono and some dodgems. After this we decided to hit the bars and were joined by Alan Johnson and Tim Greenfield. Again a cracking night was had with Conners getting punched for jumping a wall and Thorpy, our club sponsor buying many many shots.
The next Morning we set off for our final stop which was to be Taunton in Somerset where we had a game set up against Wellington.
Turning up way to early, we found this pub about 100yards down the road from the ground. A few lunchtime beers were sunk before we strode across to the ground and gave a better performance until a Century from the Wellington number 5 proved our downfall. Not bad for a side who were in reality playing a premier league side.
We got back to our base in Taunton and had a cracking night and despite 1 or 2 fallings out which made it even more enjoyable, we had a good night in the longest bar in the UK.
The less said about the trouble back at the hotel that night the better so i'll move on.
On the Tuesday we milled around in taunton before we ventured into Somerset's home ground for a 1 day match with Leicestershire. This was an absolute cracking night and the banter with the somerset fans being the highlight. despite the loss we retired back to the bar for a more subdued night.
Early on the Wednesday we set off back to Leicester via a pub for lunch where Stevo proceded to eat the biggest steak ever seen.

All in all it was a good first tour for many of the Enderby boys and a tour is being organised for 2010.
